battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Graveside Service will be at 11AM, Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Crestview Memorial Park.
Bev was born at home on December 8, 1939 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to the late Joe Wyman Geyman
and Inez Porter Geyman. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School a year early, in May 1957, and
went on to study at the University of Oklahoma where she was a loyal member of Alpha Delta Pi
sorority. She returned to Wichita Falls, Texas for a year of college at Midwestern University, closer to
her family. Bev then moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she worked at Fort Worth National Bank. On
a bus ride back to Wichita Falls for a visit, she met the love of her life who bought her a Coca-Cola
while waiting for her ride.
Bev married the late George Mac Bacon on February 18, 1961 at her home church, Floral Heights
Methodist Church, Wichita Falls. Their loving marriage of 50 years ended only with his death in 2011.
They had 2 daughters, Kim and Missy.
When she married and began having children, Bev dedicated her life to the service of her family. She
excelled at being a wife and mom and was the loyal foundation of our family. She unconditionally
loved, unselfishly provided support, and rendered unwavering encouragement. Always the caretaker,
the joy of her life were her girls, superseded only by her grandchildren, the absolute delight of her life.
Bev had a way of making everyone who knew her feel so comfortable and at home. Her house was
always a host to all the neighborhood kids or college friends. She was known to do friends’ laundry
and always had a place at the table for anyone who was there. Although she could have taken his
uniform to the cleaners, she lovingly laundered and pressed George’s pilot uniform before each and
every flight that he flew as a captain for Eastern Air Lines – and had his cornbread ready when he
returned home!
Her perennial smile and infectious laugh are permanently etched upon our hearts and minds. She
loved to laugh and when she smiled, her eyes smiled.
As a Christian woman, she lived out her faith in every aspect of her life. When she wasn’t filling her
home with warmth and kindness, she could be found extending that servitude to the lives of others
around her. Even as the disease progressed, she continued to be a ‘light’ to her many friends and
caretakers. “Well done, good and faithful servant…” Matthew 25:23
She is survived by her children Kimberly Bacon Willey and husband, Marshall and Missy Bacon DeSpain
and husband, Bill ; 7 grandchildren – Mandee and husband, Danny; Marshall, Jr. and wife, Rachel;
Macee and husband, Cannon; Will, Connor, Claire, and Patrick ; and 6 great grandchildren – Maryn,
Macy, Case, LouCasee, Stella, and little Marshall ; one sister, Sherri Mudge ; brother and sister-in-law,
Roger and Kay Bacon, who was her life long soulmate ; sister-in-law, Judy Bacon ; and numerous nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Wietbrock and husband, Doug ; brotherin-
law, Ken Mudge ; and sister-in-law, Jan Bacon Barnes.
Very special thanks go to Anita, the caretakers at Carriage Inn, Marty, and the entire staff at Creekside
Memory Care Center. Your unselfish service to her and other residents is truly a special thing. We are
forever grateful to you. Thank you, also, to Oasis Hospice.
The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice
in lieu of flowers. There will be a celebration of her life at Creekside Retirement Community on
November 19, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00pm. All are welcome.
