Clara L. Young

Clara L. Young, 91, of Holliday, Texas passed away Friday, July 15, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2011 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Darryl Sewell officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Young was born on August 21, 1919 in Morristown, Tennessee to the late Henry and Maude (McCrary) Long. It was there that she married Robert T. Young on June 18, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1990. Clara loved her family, friends and her precious Lord, Jesus Christ. She was saved as a teenager in a small church in Tennessee. She and Robert settled in Wichita Falls in 1950 until she moved to Holliday six years ago to be with her daughter, Paula. She was a lifelong member of Bible Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and most recently attended First Baptist Church in Holliday and was a member of the TLC Sunday School Class there. Clara loved her job and was employed at Mrs. Bairds Bread for 40 years, retiring in 2005 at the age of 85. She loved fishing and camping with husband, Bob and traveling to Colorado. Clara was a Godly wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all and enjoyed giving and helping others. Her favorite sentence was “What can I do for you?” She was gifted with a great sense of humor to go with her warm, loving personality and will be missed by family and friends alike.

Survivors are her daughter, Paula Hutto and husband, Robert (Woody), Holliday, Tx.; grandchildren, Jenny Mathis and husband, Ronald of Weatherford, Amy Tunnell and husband, John of Mineral Wells, Shelly Johnston and husband, Brett of Holliday, Michelle Papin and Robert Young, both of Wichita Falls; great grandchildren, Abigail, Walker, Presli, John Robert, Luke, Samantha, Molly, Payten, Jordan and Alex. She was also preceded by her son, Ronnie Young in 2005.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of Hospice and a special thanks to dear friend and caregiver, Virginia Henson.
