

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 15th at 10:00AM in the chapel at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Tony Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, July 14th at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Claude was born September 5, 1921 in Mineral Wells, Texas, to the late Claud V. Spears and Eula (Mullins) Spears. Claude was a sports enthusiast. Straight out of High School, he began to play fast-pitch softball for the Boston Hobos. Claude served his country in World War Two as a member of the United States Army. He married Betty Ann (Crow) Spears on December 24, 1951. Claude received his teaching degree from Texas Tech, and he shared his love for sports by coaching at various schools in the West Texas area. Claude and Betty moved from the Lubbock area to Wichita Falls in 1969. Here, Claude began his teaching career in Biology at Wichita Falls Senior High School. He taught Biology until his retirement in 1989. Claude was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. Throughout his life, Claude was a God loving man. His life was enriched with the love of God and the Christians around him. Claude was an Elder of the Central Christian Church, where he also held other leadership positions. From 2000 to 2008 Claude participated in the Senior Olympics, showing he still had a great passion for sports. Claude was an avid golfer and domino player. Along with all the sports, he was an excellent gardener. Claude had a deep appreciation and love for nature.
Claude was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Ann (Crow) Spears. He was also the last of five children.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Ann Monhollon and her husband; Blair of Eufaula, Oklahoma, one son; Don Spears and his wife; Jane of The Colony, Texas, five grandchildren; Tiffany Wilson and her husband; Robert, of Carrollton, Texas, Bethany Triana and her husband; Anthony of Oklahoma City, Mathew Monhollon of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Holly Reid and her husband; Adam, of Lewisville, Texas, and Haley Spears of The Colony, Texas, and two Great-grandchildren; Caysten Reid and Amelia Wilson.
