Doris B Campbell

She was born on February 1, 1934. Doris B. Campbell was born to Modica C. and Mary Hortence Brantley. She was the middle child, having an older sister, Sarah Dew, and younger brother, Grady Brantley. She graduated from Spring Hope High School in 1952.

Doris joined the Women's Army Corps in 1954 and attended basic training at Fort Lee, Virginia (VA), after which she served at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She met her future husband, Ernest Charles Campbell, while on a hop on a military aircraft. They were married in Las Cruises, New Mexico on September 3, 1955. She was honorably discharged a few weeks later. At that time the military was not concerned at keeping military spouses together, especially if different branches of service were involved.

She, her husband and her family were stationed at the following bases: Travis Air Force Base, California, Clark Air Force Base, Philippine Islands, McChord Air Force Base, Washington, and Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.

Doris taught students in Western State Mental Hospital for over 33 years. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Lakewood, Washington. Upon her return to Texas in 2008 she became an active member at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas and taught Sunday School for over 33 years.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother and two granddaughters, Megan Campbell and Lauren Marshall.

Doris is survived by her 5 children: Debra Campbell, Indiana-Gayle Campbell, Texas-Barbara Marshall, Missouri-Linda O'Donnell, Utah and Edward Campbell, Washington, 10 Grandchildren: Sara Campbell, Daniel Robbins, Amy Robbins, Andrew Robbins, David Marshall, Emma Marshall, Heather Porter, Allan O'Donnell, Rachel O'Donnell and Robert Campbell, 4 Great Grandchildren: Samuel Robbins, Mackenzie Robbins, Lillian Robbins and Lincoln Robbins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army or Hospice of Wichita Falls Texas in Doris' name.
