

Ellen Lurea Gwin Whaley, devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, 69, died November 5th, 2022 in her home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Ellen was born March 22nd, 1953 in Le Flore, Oklahoma, and was preceded in death by her mother Wilma Bristow, and stepfather Merton Bristow, brothers Raymond Gwin and Kenneth Gwin. Ellen is survived by her husband Larry H Whaley from Wichita Falls, Texas, daughter Kimberly D Baker from Wichita Falls, Texas, sisters Helen Borden from Wilburton, Oklahoma, Mary Roybal from Engelwood, Colorado, and Rita Bales from Grandfield, Oklahoma, brothers Phil Gwin from Wilburton, Oklahoma and Robert Gwin from McAlester, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Ellen went to High School in Hartshorne, Oklahoma until the 11th grade, then later obtained a GED. Ellen worked at Kmart for 28 years and was assistant manager for the last several years of her career there. She later ran her own house cleaning business. Ellen enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and houseplants. Most of all, Ellen loved doing things with family and loved children, especially her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 14th at 11 am at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76302.
Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice, including any with dementia or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
