German Federico Tays, 67, of Laredo, TX passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025. Born and raised in Laredo, TX, he ran cross country at J.W. Nixon High School. He joined the U.S. Marines Corp in 1975, where he served a tour in Vietnam. He later also served 2 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. German was a journeyman plumber for many years of his life.
German was a devoted father and grandfather whose love for his family was the center of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Tays; his children, Luis Suarez, Elsa Tays, Rosie Tays, and Daniel Tays; his cherished grandchildren, Jordan Aguirre, Jayda Aguirre, Ian Banda, Emeri Banda, and Celine Tays; his 9 siblings; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings.
German was a strong and loving man. There was nothing he couldn't do when he set his mind to it. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the love and values he instilled in his family.
A viewing will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home & Memorial Park. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Following the service, a reception will be held at 1:00 p.m. at 8123 Bacon Switch Rd., Wichita Falls, TX 76305.
