

Glenda was born September 28, 1945 to Loyd and Ruby Mathews in Wichita Falls, TX. Glenda was the youngest of four children. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1964.
On June 30, 1969 Glenda married the love of her life, Wendell Charles Ellis in Iowa Park, TX. He preceded her in death one month shy of their 55th wedding anniversary. She was a housewife most of their marriage. After having their children, and her oldest graduating high school, she decided to go back to school herself. She attended Grayson County College before going on to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK. Glenda graduated with high honors, showing herself and her family what hard work and persistence could result in. She was determined and strong-willed in this life. After graduation, she worked in an office for three years until getting cancer that she bravely fought and beat. Not only was she brave, strong-willed and determined, but she was also very kind, loving and loyal. She loved her family and God with all she had.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Billy Mathews. Glenda and Wendell had three children, Traci Ryan and husband Darrell, Cody Ellis, and Christopher Ellis and wife Cecilia. Glenda also has a step- daughter, Amanda Buchanek and husband Robert, whom she loved very much. Other family members include 6 grandchildren: Mathew Ryan, Michael Ryan and wife Katie, Gage Ellis, Landon Ellis, Amorina Gonzales, and Nemiah Martinez. She is also survived by her two sisters, Betty Cook and Janet Pittman; her sister-in-law, Darlene Mathews Chappell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, located at 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, TX on June 12, 2025 at 2pm. Interment of ashes to follow at Rosemont Cemetery, located at 4441 Southwest Pkwy, Wichita Falls, TX.
