

Herby K Carr, born on July 8, 1943, in Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2026, at the age of 82. He was the beloved son of Jim and Muriel Carr. Herby was an inspirational, hard-working, and humorous man who touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime.
Herby's early life was spent in Wichita Falls, where he graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1961. He pursued higher education at the University of North Texas, earning a bachelor's degree in education in 1965. His commitment to education led him to further his studies, obtaining a Master's degree in counseling and administration.
Herby's career was marked by dedication and passion for education. He served as a coach, teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal at Wichita Falls High School, a career that spanned 48 years. His contribution to the field of education and his commitment to his students left a lasting impact on the community.
In 1957, Herby met the love of his life, Patty Arbuckle, while both were in junior high. They married in 1961 and shared a life full of love and companionship. Together, they raised three children: Jeff, Stacy, and Jayme. Herby's family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Outside of his professional life, Herby enjoyed golfing and fishing. However, his greatest passion was mentoring students, a testament to his dedication to nurturing and guiding young minds. Herby was also an active member of his community, volunteering at Faith Village Church of Christ.
Herby was preceded in death by his son, Jeff. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Patty; daughter Stacy and her husband Allen Glenn; son Jayme and his wife Laura Carr; two grandsons, Austin Glenn and Blake Carr; two granddaughters, Courtney Glenn and Abby Carr; and one great-grandson, Thomas Glenn.
