Irene R Contreras

Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. Irene will lay in state February 10, 2021 until time of service.

Irene was born in Wichita Falls, TX on January 22, 1939. She was the daughter of Pablo and Stefana Rodriguez. She married Teofilo F. Contreras on July 6, 1958 in Wichita Falls, TX and became a homemaker for her family.

She was passionate about many things in her life, but God and her family were everything - especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her other passion was cooking and ensuring that everyone was well fed and taken care of. She served as a member of La Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana.

She enjoyed reading her daily Bible devotionals and doing her “Word Seek” puzzles.

Irene is survived by her husband, Teofilo F. Contreras; children, Irene Contreras-Rosas and her husband Louis, Delia Meadows and her husband Eric, Juan Marcos and his wife, Kendra, Vanessa Contreras and her husband Jelyn Haygood, and Jacobo Contreras and his partner Arlene Gutierrez; two siblings, Ramona Enriquez and Benito Rodriquez; along with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Stefana Rodriguez and five siblings, Lily Ayala, Olivia Escalante, Olga Lara, Paul Rodriguez, and Pedro Rodriguez.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (DRI), American Liver Foundation or Hospice of Wichita Falls in her Loving Memory.
