James A Herbert

A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 22, 2025 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas with Roger Deerinwater officiating. Services are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home.

James was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 10,1946 to August Adolph and Phyllis Kathryn Cullerton Herbert. He has been a resident of Wichita Falls since 1977. James served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967, during the Vietnam War. James had many occupations throughout his life. He was a policeman, barber, factory worker and a correctional officer. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 22 years before retiring in 2008. He was also a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union, Branch #1227 for 39 years. He was currently employed by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

James married Kathie Olene Lewis on June 20,1992 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the Morningside Post Office.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brother: Donald Michael Herbert, and sister-in-law: Lois Herbert.

James is survived by his wife: Kathie Herbert of Wichita Falls; sons: Wayne Michael Herbert and wife Terri of North Carolina and Scott James Herbert Honey and wife Nici of Canada; daughter: Renee Kimberly LeBlanc and husband Kirt of Oregon; stepsons: Robert Paul Dunn and Stuart Ray Mitchell, both of Wichita Falls; brothers: Richard Joseph Herbert and wife Debbie of Metairie, Louisiana and Michael Patrick Herbert and girlfriend Cathy of Gretna, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren: Skylar Mitchell Offutt, Tanner Mitchell Offutt, Maleigha Dunn, Mason Dunn, Dillon Herbert, Lucy Honey and Frankie Honey; 5 great grandchildren: Lexie Offutt, Clark Offutt, Ava Lane, Savanna Rivera and River Dunn; and several nieces and nephews.
