Our mom was a force to be reckoned with. She was very strong, some might even say bull headed ( but not to her face). She was not afraid to speak her mind and demanded the respect she deserved. She was also very soft- hearted, especially when it came to children. Even with six children already, Dad had to talk her out of adopting more. She loved her grandchildren very much and was their protector, co-conspirator, playmate and advisor. Their time together was a time for adventures
.
She also never met a stranger. By the time she left a place, she usually had made a connection with everyone in the room. And people loved her. They were drawn to her spirit and charm and knew they had been graced with the company of someone special.
She had a supreme confidence in her worth. Even with a body ravaged by illness, she would just smile when given flowers because she knew, without a doubt, she was given them because she was the most beautiful woman in the room.
Her family was always the focus of her life and our dad was at the center of that focus. She protected him with the fierceness of a tiger up to his very last breath. And he knew what a lucky man he was to have this woman by his side through all the good times and the hard times of their life together.
She truly believed life was not for sissies and she was no sissy. She will be missed but not forgotten.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Hospice of Wichita Falls for all the love, care and respect given to our mother while on their services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in her honor to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., 76310.
