Born on August 17, 1940 in Goree, Texas to his parents, Raymond and Helen Mozelle Caldwell, Jimmy's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and a steadfast devotion to his Lord and Savior.
Growing up in Wichita Falls, Texas, Jimmy's life began a joyful new chapter the moment he met Mona Gale, his childhood sweetheart and soulmate, a love that brought him immeasurable happiness. Their rare love story was made richer by their three children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jimmy possessed a remarkable sense of humor, a gift that could effortlessly fill any room with laughter and joy. He had a way of making everyone feel at ease, never knowing a stranger. As a devoted Christian, Jimmy lived his life according to God's word. He instilled in his family the importance of a lifelong relationship with Christ, nurturing their desire to seek Him in all aspects of their lives. His faith was not just a belief, but a guiding principle that shaped his actions and his interactions with others.
In his younger years, Jimmy skillfully practiced the art of barbering at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. His professional path then transitioned into a career as an engineer and machinist at M&M Metal Works before he embarked on his own entrepreneurial venture as the owner of Timberline Metal Works. Later in life, Jimmy cherished the opportunity to work alongside his sons, Randal and James, and his grandson-in-law, Brian, contributing his wisdom and experience to their family computer business until his well-earned retirement.
Beyond his working life, Jimmy's hands were rarely still, and found joy in the intricacies of his garage, the artistry of woodworking, and the meticulous construction of both model and full-sized airplanes. This deep-seated passion for aviation became legacy, shared with his sons who soared the skies alongside him until his later years. More than a pastime, his love of airplanes and woodworking was a genuine talent, a skill he lovingly passed down to his children and grandchildren, crafting enduring memories.
Jimmy Ray Caldwell will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious laughter, silly jokes and wild stories, unwavering faith, and profound love for his family will forever be cherished. He has now joined his beloved Mona Gale in the arms of his Savior, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine brightly.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Mona Gale Caldwell; parents Raymond and Helen Mozelle Caldwell, step-mother Winnie Caldwell; father-in-law Louis Watkins and mother-in-law Lydia Watkins; sister, Sandra Maloney; brother-in-law, Tom Maloney; granddaughter Rachel Kay Caldwell; great-grandson, Grayson Henderson.
Jimmy's legacy of love and faith lives on through his surviving family: his siblings, Gary Paul and Marta Caldwell and Terry Joe and Pam Caldwell; his children, Randal and Bebe Caldwell, James and Margaret Caldwell, and Kimberly and Traci Caldwell; his grandchildren, Jarrett Caldwell, Peter and Kimberly Piontkowski, Ashley and Brian Uncapher, Jenna Caldwell, Stephanie Henderson, Aaron and Merna Herrera, Adam Herrera, and Daniel and Erica Herrera; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Ethan Caldwell, Benjamin Caldwell, Vivienne Caldwell, Genevieve Uncapher, Mozelle Uncapher, Wyatt Uncapher, Maverick Jones, Maisey Jones, Sylas Greene, Kennedy Greene, Lokelani Ching, Misha Salmingo, Zane Henderson, and Robin Herrera.
A graveside service for Jimmy will be held Friday, May 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302.
