

He was born on June 24, 1924 in Windthorst Texas to the late Francisco Esquibel and Gregoria Barron Esquibel. On March 27, 1944 he married Elsie Hernandez in Grandfield Oklahoma. He was a brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and WWII Veteran. Mr. Esquibel was one of the less than 1% remaining of 16 million American Veterans from WWII. He was stationed in Guam while serving his Asiatic Pacific Theater Tour. He was also a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church. John worked at Lonestar Gas company for 31 years as a crew leader and retired 1988. Mr. Esquibel enjoyed fishing, playing pool, watching sports and playing scratch-off lottery tickets.
He was survived by his sons and daughter, Ray Esquibel and wife Ann, Jake Esquibel and wife Debbie, Esther Mandela and husband Eddie, and Thomas Esquibel and wife Angela, all of Wichita Falls; and two sisters Victoria Gonzalez, and Anita Esquibel and husband Gregorio of Wichita Falls; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie, two sons Johnny and Jesse Mayo, and daughter Lola Esquibel.
A rosary and visitation for John will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Deacon Perez at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas.
