Josephine Vivian Nelson Jones

Josephine Vivian “Jo” (Nelson) Jones, 85, of Wichita Falls, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at a local hospital. Memorial Services will be held at Grace Church at 6:30 PM on Thursday, September 9, 2010.

Jo Jones lived most of her adult life in Wichita Falls, TX. She grew up on a farm near Kamay, TX and went to school at Valley View (elementary through high school.) She attended the University of Texas at Austin and Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. In January of 1959 she married Jack M. Jones and several years later they had one daughter, Ann. Jo spent the rest of her life as a dedicated house wife and loving mother. She loved her extended family, and attended many family reunions on both her mother's and father's sides until her health became a travel issue. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and ceramics. She liked to take care of plants. Her innovative spirit when it came to house cleaning led her to constantly develop ideas and create methods of achieving results. In the mid-1990's she began the process of getting one of her products/methods from the late 1960's patented. It took years, but in 1997 she was awarded a US Patent for "Method of Cleaning a Surface" (Pat. No. 5,650,016) and in the 2000's sold her product, Glass Puff, online. Jo was a member of Grace Church in Wichita Falls. She dearly loved Jesus Christ, and went to be with Him early Thursday.

She is preceded in death by her parents; older brothers & sisters, Elbert Nelson, Ileta Launa Aston, Oralee Tate, Callie Brackeen, Alta Mae McDaniel, Gertrude Amanda Hite, John Denton Nelson, Gladys Arnell Baker, Virgie Beatrice Peterson, Juanita Ruby Blaylock, and her younger sister Norma Jean Thornton.

She is survived by her husband, Jack M. Jones of Wichita Falls; daughter, Ann Jones of Wichita Falls; sister, Florine "Flo" Brown and her husband Edd of Greenville, SC; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Church general fund or the American Lung Association.
