Born on December 11, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Robert W. Norris and Wanda Golightly Norris, Kathy was a proud graduate of the Wichita Falls High School Coyote Class of 1972.
While working at Bethania Hospital, she met Dewey “Mike” Chancellor, and they were married on July 1, 1972. Together they traveled the world. While stationed at Ramstein AFB in Germany, she and a friend started a childcare service. They used their earnings to travel extensively, exploring as many countries as they could throughout Europe. After returning to the United States, Kathy and Mike continued their travels and ultimately achieved their goal of visiting all 50 states.
Kathy was the ultimate mother—not just to her own children, but to many others. Kathy opened her home and kitchen table to anyone and everyone, including countless airmen. For many years, Mike would go pick up airmen for Sunday church services, and they would bring them home, where Kathy would feed them a home-cooked meal before they returned to the base. She made it her mission to ensure that no one—whether family, friend, or stranger—ever went hungry.
Of her jobs outside of the home, Kathy lovingly ran Lone Star Shaved Ice for many years, later taking a position as a “sample lady” at Walmart and Sam’s Club, a role that brought her joy and allowed her to connect with others in her community.
Kathy was a faithful Christian, a devoted elder’s wife, and a dedicated Sunday school teacher at the Floral Heights Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, of 52 years, Mike, and her brother Robert L. Norris.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, April Gresham, her husband, Thomas; her son, Clint Chancellor, his wife, Marisol; her beloved grandchildren, Zachary and Ben Gresham, Maya and Emilia Chancellor. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Norris, his wife, Debbie; her sisters, Lisa Norris and Becky Norris; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
