Lana grew up in Wichita Falls attending elementary Jr and Sr High Schools. As a youth, she was a competitive swimmer attending meets throughout Texas. She was a high school boarding student at San Marcos Baptist Academy and Radford in El. Paso. After graduating from Rider High School in 1968, she attended The University of Texas in Austin followed by graduation from Midwestern University with BA and MA degrees in English Literature. She continued her education after receiving a full academic scholarship to the PhD English program at Claremont Graduate University in California. Sadly, health issues prevented the completion of her studies there. Lana remained a life long scholar developing her gift of creative writing, poetry and song lyrics reflective of her inner vision of life. Forever a child at heart and seeing the world through a most unique colorful lens, her wonderful memories of childhood experiences, friends and family became her favorite source of inspiration. Her extraordinary vocabulary and “way with words” will long be remembered by all those who ever received her letters or poetry.
Unconditional love from her family was endless and well understood through many dark, difficult years. “Aunt Lana” adored her nieces and great nieces. They were the loves of her life and she so treasured visits and phone chats.
Lana is survived by a sister, Paula Fasken and husband, Steve Fasken of Santa Fe and Dallas/ nieces Kelley Noble and Melissa Mallams Price, and great nieces Siena and Skye Price of Santa Fe,NM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the charity of choice.
