Marpassa Kincaid

Marpassa Elizabeth (Vaughn Hudson) Kincaid, 89, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home of Wichita Falls with Reverend Aaron Logan officiating. Graveside interment will follow immediately afterwards at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park.

Marpassa was born on April 24, 1935, in Archer City, Texas, to Dell and Alma (White) Vaughn. Her father tragically drowned when Marpassa was a toddler. She was raised in Archer City and Electra by her mother and father, GJ Hudson. After graduating from high school in Electra, she attended Draughn's Business College in Wichita Falls. She married her late husband Hurshel in 1953.

Marpassa went on to work at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home. She and Hurshel later started a business in municipal water product sales, The Marta Company, in 1971. This business was a central part of the family's life for 45 years.

Marpassa attended Sunnyside and Fairway Baptist Churches in Wichita Falls with the family. In later years she enjoyed attending services with her son Arlen at the First United Methodist Church of Henrietta.

She was an avid gardener, nurturing her many flowers in the Texas heat. She enjoyed working with stained glass, selling product with friends at local craft shows. She also enjoyed sewing, needlework, and crochet projects. She doted on her many fur babies - Tink Tink, Napoleon, Larry, Curly, Moe Moe, Charlie, Nickademus, Porsche, (Cleo)Patra, Tiffne, Cené, Candi, and Dora... and we can't leave out Woofer the skunk. Marpassa was a true animal lover!

Marpassa is preceded in death by her parents, Dell, Alma, and GJ. She joins them in heaven along with her husband Hurshel and son Arlen. She is survived by her daughter Teresa Kincaid-Patterson and her husband Gary; grandchildren Rachel Jones, Jay Kincaid, Emily Kincaid, Clay Patterson, and Heath Kincaid and many extended family members and dear lifelong friends.
