Mary M. Barrett, 79, of Wichita Falls passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan. No visitation is scheduled.
Mrs. Barrett was born on November 3, 1931 in Albuquerque, NM. She married James J. Barrett on December 23, 1949 in Roswell, NM and he preceded her in death in 1998. Mary was a resident of Wichita Falls since 1967 and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church here. She was a military spouse for 20 years and was involved with her husband in the American G. I. Forum and the V. F. W. She was also a Gold Star Mom.
Survivors include sons, James R. Barrett of Wichita Falls and Jordan K. Barrett of Sherman, TX; daughters, Janet L. Colunga of Clarksville, TN and Jo Ann Rivers of Satellite Beach, FL; brother Nacho Leaton of Roswell, NM; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Besides her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John D. Barrett, and grandsons, Chad H. Rivers and Jeffery Boatman.
