After meeting in Junior High, Nelda and Bill began going steady on March 28, 1969. Bill went off to college while Nelda finished high school and they were married that summer on July 28, 1973. While just getting started at Baylor, Nelda became pregnant, dropped out of school, and began her life-long devotion to motherhood.
Bill graduated from Baylor and Nelda became a supportive wife as he entered the family business. Motherhood and a supportive wife began her incredible legacy.
She worked with Bill as they worked with young adults at FBC Wichita Falls. She sang in the choir and spent an increasing amount of time raising her four children.
After being diagnosed with cancer, she never stopped. She refused to give into fear of Covid and never retreated from seeing her kids and grandkids because of it. She exercised reasonable caution, but was intentional in living life to the fullest, which meant spending as much time with family as possible.
Appropriately, she took her first breath in heaven with a lot of family very close by, no wish unfulfilled, content in the assurance of her relationship with Christ and full of hope that she would see all her family again soon in that place called Heaven.
Public Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Monday December 20, 2021 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later time.
