Roger R. Cook

Roger R. Cook, 76, of Wichita Falls passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2011 at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor Warren Hall of Allendale Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard. No visitation is scheduled.

Mr. Cook was born on August 20, 1935 in Oklaunion, TX to the late Orva L. Cook and Bert (Hanes) Cook. Mr. Cook moved to Wichita Falls from Biloxi, MS in 1973 and retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1974 at Sheppard Air Force Base after 20 years of service. He began his career as a transport pilot for the Air Force and was a pilot instructor at his retirement. He proudly served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Roger was Baptist by faith. He married Bessie H. Arnett in Big Spring, TX on June 6, 1959 and she preceded him in death in 1999. Also preceding him was a brother, Richard Cook.

Survivors include daughters, Vickie Green of Smithville, TX, Gwen Golden of Manassas, VA and Cindy Cook of Austin, TX; sisters, Glenda Haley of Wichita Falls and Carole Harrison of Wyoming; grandchildren, John Powell of San Antonio, TX and April Powell of Nacogdoches, TX; great grandchildren, Leighton Antee, Landon Antee, Larkyn Antee, Liberty Ann Antee and Lorelei Powell.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd. 76310.
