Ms. Ruby Martinez Hernandez

Ruby Hernandez passed away peacefully Monday, November 01, 2010 at the age of 93. She was born June 20, 1917 in San Angelo, TX to Paz and Tomasa Mares Martinez. She moved to Wichita Falls with her parents in 1925. Ruby worked for Johnson & Johnson and she worked as a hostess at Bank of America where she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Paz and Tomasa Martinez; husbands, Jesus Mendez in 1938, and Pete Hernandez in 1993; three brothers, Horace Martinez, Rudolph Martinez, Paul Martinez; two sisters, Ophelia Martinez, Anne Ceballos; infant daughter, Elosia Mendez; and infant granddaughter, Lorie Amador.

Survivors include her brother, Willie Martinez and wife Shirley of Wichita Falls; daughters, Yolanda Mendez Amador and husband Mike of Denton, TX, Celia Guajardo and husband Daniel of Austin, TX, sons, Pete Hernandez, Jr. and wife Helen of Dallas, TX, Freddie Hernandez of Wichita Falls, Tony Hernandez and wife Joann of Wichita Falls; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a vigil and rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

A funeral mass has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated by Father John Robert Skeldon. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
