She is survived by her daughters, Debra Burnett, Dana Rice, and husband Vance. Grandchildren: Donny Allison, Jeremy Burnett, and wife, Meredith, Jennifer Holdbrook, and Danny Holdbrook. Great-grandchildren: Jordan, Ashlyn, Hayley, Hunter, and Hensley. Great-great-grandchildren: Avery and Easton. Surviving siblings: Frankie Phillips and husband, Robert and Martha Wooten.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, her son, David, and son-in-law, Steven Burnett.
She married her high school sweetheart the day she graduated. She was a military wife who followed her husband to Alabama, South Carolina, North Dakota, Turkey, Guam, and Wichita Falls, where they planted roots. She was devoted to her faith and embraced traveling to Biblical sites in Turkey.
Evelyn is lovingly remembered as "Little Grandma" by her grandchildren, whom she adored and took great pride in their accomplishments. She was physically active before her illness and was known as the sweet lady who would put your newspaper on your porch during her daily four-mile walks. She had a bright mind and applied all her knowledge in completing the daily New York Times crossword puzzle in record time. She was an artist who could look at an example and reproduce a painting. Many here today have an Evelyn original. She had a great love of crafting, which she instilled in each of her daughters and grandchildren.
Evelyn's legacy lives on in the lives of the little ones she taught in the nursery at Southside Baptist Church and the family she held dear. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
A special place in Evelyn's heart was her long-lasting friendship with the ladies of Southside Baptist Church.
Thank you to Hospice of Wichita Falls, United Regional 6th floor and ICU staff and Highcrest. Contributions can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls in Evelyn's name.
