Samuel David Garner

S. D. ‘David’ Garner, 81, of Wichita Falls went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at Lamar Baptist Church in Wichita Falls at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2011 with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Mr. Garner was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend who blessed so many lives. He and his wife Mary loved their church family of Lamar Baptist Church and both have served the Lord by serving others. His humor and laughter was contagious and will be deeply missed.

Mr. Garner was born on April 12, 1930 in Tulsa, OK to the late Samuel Garner and Roma (Cross) Garner. He married Mary Elizabeth Hill on September 9, 1952 in Clovis, NM. David served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed at Southwestern Bell until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid golfer, green-thumb gardener and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Mary Garner of Wichita Falls; three children, David Garner of Bay City, TX, Judy Lowe and husband, Steve of Frisco, TX and Kathy Neal and husband, Larry of Wichita Falls; grandson, Jeff Garner and his fiancé’, Wendy Kreminski,; granddaughter, Rachel Neal; two great grandchildren, Madelyn and Tyler; brothers, Carol Garner and Calvin Garner and wife, Shirley. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Wayne and Charles.
