Shirley was born February 4, 1942 in League City, Texas to Willie Waldo and Nellie Mae Biggs. She was the fourth of seven children. Shirley lived on League City as a young girl then moved on to Walker, Louisiana and then on to Roswell, NM where she married the love of her life on May 14, 1961, Ben Albert Scales. They then moved to Wichita Falls where they spent the reminder of their lives together.
Shirley was a member of the Nazarene Church where she was involved with potluck dinners, Secret Pals, hayrides and bonfires. Her faith was strong and she whole heartedly loved God, Jesus and Heaven. She sold Avon and Tupperware but the most important was being a homemaker and taking care of her husband and three daughters. Shirley was such a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was very generous. She was a loving, caring, wise and compassionate person. Every Saturday was “ Date Night “ with her husband and every Sunday was church and anything that was going on there. She will truly be missed by everyone that knew her.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben, two brothers, Johnny and Bill Biggs and one great-granddaughter Makayla Jean Nycole Ortiz.
She is survived by her three daughters, Joan Scales Walker, LaDonna Scales Taylor and Ruth Ann Scales Rascon, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
