

Sue was born on September 29, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She spent her early childhood in Waurika, Oklahoma, before moving to Byers, Texas, where her father, Oran, operated the Texaco Service Station.
After graduating from Byers High School, Class of 1960 as Salutatorian, she married James Pierson at the First Baptist Church of Byers, Texas and they made their home in Wichita Falls.
Sue served as the chief deputy treasurer for Wichita County for many years before retiring in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oran and Catherine Dixon Taylor.
Sue is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Pierson; her brother, Don Ray Taylor and his wife, Betty; her sister, Janice Taylor Johnston; her son, Timothy Pierson and his wife, Glynda; and her daughter, Melody Pierson Dyson and her husband, Rob.
She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Heather Pierson and her husband, Gilbert; Matt Pierson and his wife, Jessica; Moriah Pierson Williams and her husband, Troy; Alex Dyson and his wife, Hannah; and Levin Dyson and his wife, Katie. She was also a cherished great grandmother to eight great grandchildren, Chloe, Colten, Hayden, Abbie, Kamden, Lincoln, Hudson, and Caleb, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Sue’s life was marked by a deep devotion to the Lord and an unwavering love for her family. Along with devotion to the Lord, she deeply loved music. From Elvis Presley to old time Southern Gospel Quartet music to church hymns, she loved singing and listening to music. Family camping trips were a favorite vacation pastime, along with reading a good book and sitting with her poodle dog in her lap. She also loved decorating and making floral arrangements for any occasion. She was always helping others in need was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will always be cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southside Baptist Church or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Visitation will be held at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home on April 15, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home & Memorial Park on April 16, 2026, at 2:00 pm, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas 76302.
