Sylvia J Price Whitecotton Mitchell

Graveside services will be Thursday, May 1st at 10:00 AM at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan.

Sylvia was born to Gene C. Price and Lola Levell Woods Price on June 8, 1928 in Perkins, Oklahoma. She attended schools in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She married Donal Lee Whitecotton at age 16 on October 24, 1944. There were 4 children born to their marriage; Elizabeth Ann, Donna June, Donal Lee, Jr., and Dennis Gene. Sylvia and her family moved to Wichita Falls in 1953. She was a homemaker until her youngest child entered first grade. She was employed by First Wichita National Bank, Wichita Falls State Hospital, Underwoods Bar-B-Que, and The Regency Nursing Home. Later in their marriage, Mr. Whitecotton developed heart problems and she cared for him for several years. After his death in 1983, she sold her home and moved in with her daughter and family. She went back to work at the State Hospital for a while and retired in 1991.

She found love again and married Freddie Mitchell on March 24, 1989. They had 12 very happy years together before he died in February 2001.

Sylvia was saved and baptised in the First Assembly of God Church in Guthrie, OK when she was 16 years old. She continued in this faith until she joined First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls in 2001. She loved her church, her Sunday School class (Friendship), and most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sylvia was preceded in death by both of her husbands and all four of her children. She is survived by her granddaughter Robin Martin and husband Bill, her grandson Darren Ritchie and wife Marsha, great-grandchildren Ryan/Beth Anne Martin, Sara/Taylor Gray, Tyler/Lillie Martin and Marley Ritchie, great-great grandsons Korbyn, Maddox, and Haysen Gray, her sister Jean Dixon and numerous nieces and nephews.
