

He was preceded in death by his wife, Atie; father and mother, Wouterus and Elisabeth; brothers Cor, Hans; sisters Tina, Bep; and granddaughter, Casey.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Linda) Borst and their children, Jayme, Jason, and Jessica; daughters, Mary Ann (Doug) Bruggeman and their children, Scott and Sarah; Yvonne (Mike) Thomas and their daughter, Samantha; Diane (Jim) Strickland and their children, Nicholas and Natalie; Elizabeth (Galen) Kone and their children, Ethan and Ellie; 6 great-grandchildren, Jaden, Lydia, Connor, Hannah, Faith, and Cooper; Art’s living siblings Leo, John, Jake, Wout, Piet, Wim, Gerard; and sisters Mary, Ida, Ria, Leotine, and Ellie.
Art was born in 1927 in Voorhout, Holland 3rd in a family of 17 children. He immigrated to the United States in 1952. Returning to Holland in 1953 to bring his wife Atie to Wichita, Kansas where they settled. Art was employed at Cudahay Meat Packing Company for 14 years and worked in the lawn care business in his off time. They began Westside Nursery in 1959 and established a thriving lawn and garden business. It evolved to Dutchman’s Nursery and Garden Center taking on the pride of his Dutch heritage. Art and Atie retired in 1999 and traveled extensively including trips back to Holland.
