Barbara Ann Chase

Barbara attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, where she earned her teaching degree. She went on to teach elementary school for nearly 40 years, dedicating her life to the care, learning, and encouragement of generations of children.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Chase, who passed away June 11, 2015. Barbara and Arthur were married on September 18, 1955, and shared nearly 60 years of marriage together. She was also preceded in death by her father, Ferd Townsend; mother, Thelma Townsend; and brother, Don Townsend.

Barbara and Arthur shared a joyful life together and especially loved attending Wichita State University baseball, basketball, and volleyball games. They proudly held season tickets for many years. They also enjoyed camping and were part of a camping group, but above all they cherished simply being together—whether out and about or spending quiet time at home. Barbara was a faithful member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Treadwell (Jim Jaske) and Denise Chavez (Al Chavez); eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 W 21st St, Wichita, KS 67205, followed by interment at Resthaven Cemetery, 11800 US-54, Wichita, KS 67209. A meal will be provided at the church following the interment.
