Betty was born on October 11, 1929, in Girard, Kansas, the daughter of Hollis and Rena Shaffer. She graduated from Wichita North High School in 1946.
Betty is survived by her children (and spouses) Patti Wagner (Dennis), Brad Olmsted (Natalie) and Darren Olmsted (Jamie); stepchildren Aurora Perry (Steve), Jessica Mendoza, Mike Mendoza and John Mendoza; grandchildren Paige Burk (Darrell), Brock Wagner (Nicole), Brandon Olmsted, Ian Olmsted, (Jennifer), Sloan Olmsted (Taylor), Connor Olmsted and Cassandra Olmsted; thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, step grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Jane Haggard and Alice Funk, stepchildren Jaime Mendoza and Nick Mendoza, and great-great granddaughter Lainey Snyder.
A service will be held for Betty on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
