Betty Alyce Elaine Young, 96, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. She was born April 3, 1929 in Buffalo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ivan B. and Ruth E. (Tanner) Myers.
Betty attended high school in Buffalo, Oklahoma; then went and attended Wichita Business School, where she met her soon to be husband, Henry E. "Hank" Young, Sr. The two were married on December 25, 1948, in Scandia, KS, at the Young family home.
During her free time, Betty enjoyed reading, listening to music, and crocheting. Her biggest joy was to spend time with her children and family.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Ivan and Ruth Myers; her husband, Henry E. Young Sr.; her sister, Christina Rae Hemme; her 3 son-in-laws, Robert, Bill, and Ron; along with her grandson, Christopher "Chris" Wells.
She is survived by: her children, Katherine Watt, Cherry Shortnacy, Gene (Anita) Young, Sandra McKee and Sue (Karl) Wells; her sister, Christa Kay Campbell; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation & Viewing will be held from 10:00 AM ~ 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2025; Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 AM, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Betty's name has been established with: Manhattan Christian College, 1415 Anderson Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
