2020. Carrie operated the Westair Club located in the Town and Country
motel on West Hwy 54, Wichita in the late 1960s through the 1970s. It
was popular for its Double Bubble happy hour, delicious complimentary
food prepared by Carrie and the singing of Paul "Fuzzy" Ferguson.
Everyone was encouraged to sing along to the jukebox on Fuzzy's
microphone, making the Westair a kind of karaoke bar before anyone had
heard of karaoke. Carrie then created Carrie B's, another popular spot
in West Wichita. She was with Southeast Kansas Shuttle Service and was a
greeter at Sam's Club until she was age 91. She loved travel, dining
out, she was a wonderful cook- her holiday dinners will be missed. She
was always on the go, a lively and loving mother, grandmother, and
friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Raymond Ferguson and her
beloved sister, Rosalie Scherrer, brother-in-law, Harley Scherrer,
brother, George McDowell, sister-in-law, Marisue McDowell, and
sister-in-law, Mineko McDowell. She will be remembered fondly by her
brother, Larry McDowell, sister-in-law, Carol McDowell, brother, Ron
McDowell, her partner, Carl Mitchell, her children, Paul Scott Ferguson,
Ellen Mueller, Julie Haynes, her grandchildren, Scott Lee Ferguson, Chad
Ferguson, Tanner Ferguson, James Mueller and her great-grandchildren,
Adam Ferguson, Lora Ferguson, Hannah Ferguson, and Ethan "EJ" Ferguson.
Due to pandemic services will be held privately at a later date.
