It is with sadness and joy that we announce Christopher “Gig” Thomas Giggy, a man of immense humor, wisdom, and one who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, passed on October 31, 2024, at age 66, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on April 15, 1958, in Harper, Kansas to the late Tom and Joann Giggy.
After graduating in 1976 from Wichita High School West, Chris went on to marry the love of his life, Laurie Ann Maxey, on October 25, 2003. For 21 years, they celebrated their lives together and their blended family of seven children: Nicholas, Cory, Christopher, Grant, Nathan, Caitlin, and Rachel.
Chris was a very talented drummer and musician. He had an incredible memory and loved to talk passionately about history, especially the Civil War. He also took time to enjoy trucks, cars, planes, and ships. He especially loved driving trucks and worked at RichMix/Quikrete, from where he retired after 28 years.
Chris was a loving father and grandfather, always interested in hearing about children’s homework, music lessons, and their experiences of the day. He enjoyed making others laugh by telling jokes and stories. Chris was incredibly generous and thoughtful to all he encountered and willing to help wherever he saw the need.
We’ll close with his favorite line: “I will not be ignored.” And he never was.
Those left to laugh with the memories and drum to the beat are his wife, Laurie; sons, Nicholas Giggy, Cory Honse(Anya), Christopher Honse, Grant Dorsey, and Nathan Maxey; daughters, Caitlin Castina and Rachel Miles(Blake); 2 grandsons, Blake and Tristan; 8 granddaughters, Kaylee, Elizabeth, Olivia, Parker, Brooke, Brecken, Hayden, and Elliot; sisters, Dana Giggy and Lisa Kelley(Bob); nephews, Justin(Emily) and Drew(Tamara), niece, Erica(Brian); & many great nieces and nephews.
We rejoice as he reunites with his parents, Tom and Joann, who have welcomed him home with open arms.
A Celebration for Chris will be held, Saturday, January 4, 2025, 12 - 4PM at the Museum of World Treasures, 835 E. 1st Street, Wichita, Kansas 67202. Please join us on the 3rd floor and stay after and enjoy the museum. Hawaiian shirts are welcome!
