Daryl was such an inspiration to me. In music and life as well. We grew up together in central Kansas and he was the one that I always looked up to as well as my older brother. We all played music together in a great little garage/basement band we called the Shadows. We actually played at a lot of high school venues at Buhler High. More than that Daryl and I worked together for his Dad at the gas station, baling hay, custom wheat harvest and just fooling around with our nice cars. Daryl was always my best friend and has been for the last 53 years since we met. I love you brother and will see you again I know.....

Daryl’s laugh is something I will always remember. A specific time was sitting with Kathy and Daryl in the waiting room anticipating the arrival of Carter. My daughter, kitchell, was emptying her purse to find something at the bottom. She pulled out a roll of orange streamers. Yes, orange streamers. Daryl’s laughter FILLED the waiting room. His love for his wife, his children, and especially his grandchildren was one of the most amazing gifts ever bestowed on these people. How lucky they were to be so deeply loved.
