David E. Grimm 85, took his final flight to join his heavenly family on September 27, 2016. David had a love for airplanes all his life. He served in the Air Force Reserve (1949), Air Force (1950-1954), and The National Guard (1954-1965). He worked for the City of Wichita as Chief Mechanic for the Wichita Police Department, Air Section, servicing the three police helicopters for over 24 years. After retiring in 1996, David enjoyed spending time with his family. His special joy was being Papa to his grandson. They truly had a special bond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Matilda Grimm; and sister, Margarite Norena Carter. David is survived by wife of 52 years, Thelma Grimm; daughter, Samantha (Paul) Anderson; brother, Joseph Dean Grimm; and grandchild, Troy David Anderson. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016 with visitation one hour prior at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice Foundation or The American Heart Association.
