I was hired on at SWBT 2 months after turning 18 years old. I was a repair clerk. We sent our tickets over to the test board for them to trouble shoot the customers phone issues. The testers also worked internally with other departments and the outside technicians. I listened to Deloris daily and many times told people "when I grow up" I want to be just like her, she's so smart and funny but tough when she needed to be with the techs.    I never knew her age but she worked with a bunch of 'old' guys (except for Sharon, the other smart, funny, tough gal)  One of those old guys pulled out a cigar and dared her to smoke it and she did.   She taught me what a short on the telephone line meant and what grounded was.  Lots of memories working next to her.  I'm sorry for your loss.  Know that she touched many people in her life.  

  We did everything together in high school. We had some wonderful times. I'll miss miss you.  I'll miss our phone calls.

So sad to hear of Deloris' passing.  I have fond memories of growing up with Deloris in Florence, KS as a classmate from kindergarten through our sophomore years (when I moved away).  We also shared good times at our homes, the city park and city springs, birthday parties and slumber parties and in more recent years at a few of the every 10 year class reunions for the Florence class of '66.

I was so sad to read this obituary. My heart goes out to all of you. It’s been quite a few years since I last saw Deloris but I will always remember her beautiful smile and sunny personality.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
