Donald R. Ballard

Donald Reed Ballard was born to Marie and Russell Ballard in Medford, OK, on April 23, 1937, the youngest of their three children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eunice Donley, and his brother Robert Ballard.

As a young man he had happy feet and loved to dance. He was a regular on the channel twelve Hifi Hop. Don briefly played football in high school before switching to a drum major. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1956. Two years later he proposed to Alice Lassiter on Valentine’s Day, and later that year they were married on December 20, 1958.

Don is survived by his wife Alice Carol Ballard; son Mark Ballard; daughter Ann Fitzgerald; granddaughter Lauren Fitzgerald Miller and grandson in-law Matthew Miller. In addition, many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation for Donald will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM followed by a graveside service.
