Donna J. Ayre

Ayre, Donna J. (Walton), 82, passed into eternal life on Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Wichita, KS. She was born on September 27, 1934 to Harry and Roletta (Hartman) Walton in Junction City, KS. Donna graduated from Junction City High School and married 58 years and lived in Salina, KS for 52 years. Donna worked as a telephone operator and then in community relations at SW Bell Telephone for 30 years. She was active in the Telephone Pioneers of America. Donna had a beautiful spirit and could get almost anyone to smile or laugh with her quick sense of humor. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She crocheted beautiful pillows and gave them to family and friends. In her later years she also made hundreds of washcloths and doll blankets for Operation Christmas Child Boxes to send to children all over the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her parents, and a brother Joe Walton. Donna is survived by children, Cynthia (Kent) Heady and Theresa (Robert) Hansen; and five grandchildren: Hannah, Brian, Nathan, Sarah and Jana; a great granddaughter, Kenna; four siblings: Charles Walton, Maxine Walker, Harry Walton and Roletta Oakley. Visitation: Friday March 24, 2017, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 25, 2017 both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita.
