Doris was united in marriage to the love of her life, Melvin "Bud" Allender, on March 20, 1955, in Nashville, Kansas, and to this union four children were born, Shirley, Deanna, Melanie, and Brian.
Doris was an in-home licensed daycare provider for 35 years working with many unique children, including some of her grandchildren. During her free time, she enjoyed sewing, canning, decorating, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Doris and Bud were active members of Ascension Lutheran Church, where they both served as charter members.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Bud; her parents, Ernest and Melinda; along with 7 sisters and 1 brother.
She is survived by: her children, Shirley (Kenneth) Dirks, Deanna (Joe) Prenatt, Melanie (Carl) Witte, and Brian (Alan) Allender; her sister, Sue Brown; her sister-in-law, Harriette Kahmeyer; along with her 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 North Tyler Road, Wichita, Kansas 67212. Graveside Service will be held 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Prayer, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 North Tyler Road, Wichita, Kansas 67212.
