

After graduating, Doris moved to Wichita, where she met the love of her life while riding the city bus. They married, built a life together, and raised two sons. Doris supported her family in every way, including helping at the family auto parts business by running parts and sharing lunch with her loved ones on her days off.
With her love of fashion and her wonderful personality, Doris enjoyed working at all three JCPenney locations in Wichita, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.
Doris was a wonderful mother and a phenomenal grandmother. She was always present for her family and supported them faithfully to her last day. Her faith was strong, and she was a devoted member of Central Community Church, where she took her prayer chain responsibilities seriously.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jane; her brother, Johnny; and the love of her life, her husband.
Doris is survived by her sons Gary (Denise) Coyan and Tom (Shelli) Coyan; her grandchildren Natalie (Ryan), Garrett (Katie), Austin, and Cassie (Scott); four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, strong faith, and the steady love she shared with everyone who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, located at 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas, 67209, on December 8, 2025, at 10:00 am.
Following the funeral, a committal service will take place at Resthaven Mortuary & Gardens of Memory in the garden of Christus.
