Earle B. Hays

Hays, Earle B., 89, passed away January 17, 2017. Born to Paul and Alma Hays in Garden City, KS. After graduating from college there, he worked on the family farm, met and married Bette (Post) Calhoun in November of 1949, they were married 30 years and had 3 sons. In August of 1980 he married Wuanita Prather of Wichita and they were together until her passing in 2004. Earle worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 4 years, and later became an insurance adjuster, working for the same company for over 36 years. His position in insurance led him to work in Dodge City, and manage offices in Concordia and Hays. He is preceded in death by his brother Duane Hays of Garden City and son Phillip Prather of Wichita, KS. Earle is survived by his sister, Wanda Jean (John) Beltz of Willow Springs, MO; children, Dean (Robin) of Milpitas, CA, Terry (Sandy) of Stilwell, OK, David (Penney) of Richland, WA, Phyllis (Dennis) Scharenberg, Inita (Bob) Sanderson, Brett (Angie) Prather; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Lakeview, with visitation beginning at 11am on Saturday, January 21, 2017, and funeral at 1pm. Dignity Celebrant Cyndi Pearce Officiating.
