Eleanor Elizabeth Honer

Eleanor Elizabeth Honer, age 93, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Kansas, the state where she was born, raised, and joyfully returned to in her later years. She was born on September 16, 1932, in Labette, Kansas, to Orval F. Attebery and Rosa (Mason) Attebery.

Eleanor was united in marriage to the late Charles Philip Honer, and together they raised four children. Her life was deeply rooted in faith and family. A devoted Christian, Eleanor read her Bible daily and lovingly encouraged her grandchildren to stay connected to their faith. Her home was a warm and welcoming place, always filled with neighbors, cousins, and laughter. She was known for her generous heart, her love of cooking, and the joy she found in caring for others—especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and loved reading to. She often spoke fondly of the large family gatherings in Kansas, cherishing the memories of shared meals and togetherness. Her return to Kansas was a dream fulfilled, and she embraced it with a smile, saying she had come back to “God’s country.” Eleanor’s journey came full circle as she met Jesus in the same place where her life began.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Orval F. and Rosa Attebery; her beloved husband, Charles P. Honer; her sisters, Louise Lowry, Ethel Allen, and Maxine Lewis; her sons, Stephen and David Honer; her granddaughter, Marie Honer, whom she loved as her own; and one great-grandson.

She is survived by her brother, Charlie Attebery and his wife Ann; daughter, Teresa Honer; son, Stanley Honer and his wife Pam; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Eleanor lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and love. Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched and the memories she created.

Funeral service for Eleanor will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, Kansas 67206. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Burial following at Dunlap Cemetery in Rose Hill, Kansas.
