

Huxman, Esther Lorraine (Brooks), 93, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013. She was born to Clyde and Ora Brooks in El Dorado, KS on November 4, 1919. She was the youngest of 4 children, of which 2 died in infancy. Around 9 years of age the family moved to Wichita, KS where she received her secular education and graduated from Wichita High School North in May of 1938. In March of 1938 she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her own personal savior. In May, 1944, she graduated from the Midwest Bible and Missionary Institute which was located in Salina, KS. Her only sister passed away in August of 1943.On June 16, 1944, Esther Brooks was united in marriage to Elmer Earl Huxman in Moundridge, KS. To this union 5 children were born. A baby boy, Randy, was taken by death in September, 1955, at the age of one month. After the children were grown, Esther spent several years babysitting for Christian women’s clubs, Child Evangelism Teacher Training classes and for private families. She also sold Fuller Brush products for 7 years. In the fall of 1964, Elmer and Esther and the family became active members of Calvary Bible Church. Some of the things she was involved in was teaching in daily vacation Bible school and at various times a Sunday school class, was faithful through the years to the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. In later years she was a nursery worker, a librarian and served a number of years on the hospitality committee. On December 31, 1984, her beloved and faithful husband, Elmer, of 40 ½ years, went home to be with the Lord.
Surviving are sons, Harold (Patty) of Wichita, KS, Wayne of the home; daughters, Elaine Huxman of Wichita, KS, Lois (Roger) Burnham of Rose Hill, KS; grandchildren, twins Jerrod Huxman and Kristina Wilson, Amanda Kolle, Belinda Burnham, Chelsea Burnham and great grandchildren twins Maggie and Natalie Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Rylee Huxman and nephew Vernon (Dee) Miller.
Visitation with family present from 6pm-8pm, Mon. March 25, 2013 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary. Funeral Service, 10am Tues. March 26, 2013 at Cornerstone Bible Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Cornerstone Bible Church, 2535 North Amidon, Wichita, KS 67204.
