Dillard, G. Richard “Dick”, 84, Petroleum Landman died peacefully on September 8, 2013 surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. Born October 25, 1928 to George Perkins Dillard and Ruth Dennis Dillard in Springfield, MO, Dick attended Oakland School, a one room school house, Senior High School (Central), and graduated from Southwest Missouri State University (all in Springfield). He also worked for Imperial Oil, Pickrell Drilling and Leben Oil before becoming an independent landman in 1972 and continued to work as an independent landman until very recently. Dick was a longtime weekend fixture at Rolling Hills Country Club where he was maybe the most visible member of the fun loving “Oilfield Trash” group. He loved people and enjoyed talking with people from all walks of life. He was quick witted and always had a joke or a story to tell. He enjoyed extensive travel with his wife, Lee and they loved to spend their winters in Palm Desert, CA. Dick lived a life full of good friends and good times. Preceded in death by his son Rick Dillard. Survived by his wife of 62 years, LaUna “Lee” Dillard, son Steve Dillard (Gena) of Wichita, daughter Susan Dillard (Jan) of Kansas City, MO, granddaughter Brittany Dillard of Wichita, grandson Brad Dillard of Avon, CO and brother, Bob Dillard of Reno, Nevada.
