

He was born in Viola, Kansas and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University. He was an Electrical Engineer at Boeing. George served in the U.S. Army/Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of Quivera Council BSA and Keystone Masonic High Twelve Club. He was a volunteer at Zion United Methodist Church; Kansas Aviation Museum; and Open Door Ministries.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Rethorst, Wichita; children, Mariann Rethorst, Wichita, Steven (Laura) Rethorst, Wichita, Janette (Robert) Lucciola, Milford, PA; siblings, Clarence (Carol) Rethorst, Costa Mesa, CA, Mary (John) Adams, Hemet, CA; grandchildren, Scott Rethorst, Wichita, Kelly Rethorst, Wichita, Dawn (Jim) Souza, Montague, NJ, Jessie Lucciola, Montague, NJ, Melissa Lucciola, Montague, NJ; nieces and nephews including, Ann Rethorst, Lansing, KS.
His family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to all his caregivers, including Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Visitation with family present from 5-7pm, Wed, Oct 19, 2011, at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary. Funeral 1:30pm, Thurs, Oct 20, 2011, at Asbury/Linwood Ministry Center (formerly Zion United Methodist Church) 1248 S. Lulu, Wichita.
