Heaven got a little brighter when Glennie Ruth (Johnson) Morace, age 85, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. She was part of a double welcomed addition to the late Clarence Oliver and Hazel Valeria (Canfield) Johnson family when she and older twin sister, Winnie, joined the family on December 17, 1939. She was one of 7, sister to Thelma, Merle, Alice, Betty, Winnie, and James.
After attending Washington Grade and Atchison High Schools, Glennie went on to the Avery Denison Labels Company where she was a line worker making decals for cars and later, she’d bring home many recipes after becoming a cook at Terrace Gardens.
After being introduced to Charles Morace, through one of Winnie’s friends, the pair enjoyed what qualities they each brought to a relationship and later married on her birthday, December 17 of 1956. Together, they kept the family tradition alive when they welcomed 9 children of their own, Gary, Dianna, Cheryl, Bonnie, Charlotte, Baby Girl Angel, Ricky, Mike, and Eddie. She and Charles were married for 41 years.
Now that her family was full, Sundays were for praising together at the Pentecostal church and Glennie made other time for fun as she loved playing bingo, made a visit or two to the casino, piecing puzzles together, and card games with those she loved.
After winning in the game of life, Glennie is now rejoicing with those gone before, her parents, Clarence and Hazel; sisters, Thelma (Wilferd) Camilli, Alice (Pete) Gallardo, and Betty (Carl) Strathman; brothers, Merle “Bud” (Betty) Johnson, James “Jimmy” (Linda) Johnson; son in law, Allen Mather; sons, Gary Allen and Edward “Eddie” Charles, and baby daughter, Angel.
Those left to keep her light alive include, twin sister, Winnie; daughters, Dianna Mather, Cheryl (Gary Stephens) Beaman, Bonnie Morace, Charlotte (John) Hasting, Ricky Morace, Michael “Mike” (Terri) Morace; 33 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Please join us in celebrating Glennie’s life as we hold a Memorial Service at 11 AM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Rolling Hills Community Church, 8605 W. Maple, Wichita, Kansas, 67209. All are invited to a luncheon which will follow the service.
