He enjoyed his childhood in Wichita playing baseball, delivering newspapers, and was active in Boy Scouts with his brother and his dad, who was their Scoutmaster. Family vacations were also enjoyed growing up. Greg took an interest in cars as a teenager and he spent time souping them up. He worked at Taco Pete where he met his future wife and mother of his children, Jennifer and Michelle. From there he went on to work at Cessna, building aircraft before eventually moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1980 to begin his career with Texaco. He owned Greg’s Texaco for nearly 20 years. In the late 1990’s, he sold his station and turned his passion for photography into a business, LeBegue’s Photography. He later turned his knowledge of computers into a business and became a Microsoft Certified Professional, CompTIA A+ and provided PC support for home and small business (PC repair and web design). He went on to work for NCR as a Computer Technician in Shawnee, OK. He was always professional, helpful, and patient in his work. He was intelligent, knowledgeable, and had a great entrepreneurial drive. He was quite a people person.
During his working career, Greg also found time to coach softball in the 90’s. Many summers were spent at the softball fields with his family. Sometimes as a coach and other times enjoying watching his daughters play. Summers also included fun in the pool and grilling. Mexican food was his favorite and many good times were had at El Chico. Greg and his girls also loved spending time together playing video games and watching family favorites on TV. BK (before kids) as Greg would often say, one of his many amusing remarks, you could usually find him with a fishing pole, rifle, or bow and arrow in hand out in nature. He loved fishing and hunting and would often go with his dad and brother. Greg also loved his toys such as his Camaro, Corvettes, motorcycle, boat, and Broncos. Greg’s talents and interests were diverse. He was skilled in carpentry and completed many projects. He really enjoyed vacationing in Colorado with his family and parents. His mother’s favorite town, Estes Park, was visited often. Greg was an OU and a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but he was an even bigger fan of his beloved dog, Mandy, who he adored.
After spending much of his adult life in Oklahoma City, Greg moved back to Wichita in 2006. He spent much of his time with his family and friends, and he still enjoyed finding ponds to fish in.
Greg was a loving son, brother, and father. He loved his family and both of his daughters very much and would do anything for them. He will be so very missed by his family and friends. Long conversations about anything and everything will be missed. Enjoying pizza with Cokes while watching TV will be missed. Hellos and hugs will be missed. His sense of humor will be missed. So many things about him will be missed.
