Jeffrey "Jeff" Schafer

Jeffrey Alan Schafer, 65, died Monday October 25, 2021 in Wichita Kansas. Jeff was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served twenty years. During his service, Jeffrey was deployed to Korea, Guam, Thailand, Philippines, Hawaii, among other various locations. Jeff retired as a Tech Sergeant at Barksdale AFB in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. He then moved to Wichita Kansas where he spent his retirement from the service. Jeff continued to work part time as a testing administrator.

He was born November 12, 1955 in Escanaba, Michigan. Jeff loved watching football, playing fantasy football, bowling, and was a huge Star Wars fan. He always had music playing and loved dancing to it. Jeff enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, spending time with his family, and had a great sense of humor.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Marciel Schafer; brothers, Douglas and Ronald Schafer; and nephew, Joseph Schafer.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Schafer; son, Derrick (Deena) Schafer; daughters, Kristie Penner, Nicole (Pete) Espinosa and Lindsay (Myles-fiance) Schafer; sister, Marciel (Jack) Deneau; 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held 3:00PM, Friday, October 29th, at Resthaven Mortuary with Military Funeral Honors, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Burial service will be in Jeffrey’s home state, Michigan at a later date.
