Jimmye Ann Woods Owens of Wichita, KS, Age 80, passed away August 5, 2019 in Newton, KS. She was born March 31 1939 to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Woods in rural Parkdale, AR. Jimmye was a retired Registered Nurse of over 40 years, and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend that will be dearly missed. She began nursing as an L.P.N in New Orleans, LA. After moving to Wichita, KS in the 1970's, she finished her registered nursing course at Wesley School of Nursing. She was employed by Wesley Hospital in the critical care unit, and also worked at some doctor's clinics in Wichita as well. She later worked at the Wichita St. Joseph Hospital as the floor nurse and charge nurse before eventually working in the operating room, and on the trauma team. She lived in Mission, TX for five years, and was an I.V. nurse for hemophiliac patients. Jimmye returned to Wichita and went back to Wesley Hospital as a recovery nurse in the Cath lab. As a registered nurse, there wasn't much she didn't get involved in. Patients were very lucky to have her as their patient advisor. In addition, Jimmye worked for Sedgwick County Med. S as a chart review R.N., and was respected by doctors, nurses, and patients. She is preceded in death by both parents, James and Annie Woods; brother, Tommy Woods, and sister, Emily Gaston. Jimmye is survived by her companion of 35 years, Ron Wolf; sons, James (Debi) Owens of Durham, KS and Mark (Becky) Owens of Placida, FL; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Lee (Fiance Taylor Clift), Wichita; Clint (April) Owens, Kechi; Marci (Robert) Alcorn, Solomon; Steven (Secilia) Owens, Sedgwick; Kyle (Briana) Owens, Renton, WA, Paige Wenger and Will Wenger of Wichita, 15 great-grandchildren, Leah and Jackie Martyn; Emily, Mary, Colton, Catherine, and Bridget Owens; Isabel and Samuel Owens; Logan, Bennett, and Meredith Alcorn; Amelia Owens; Reece and Adalyn Owens. Visitation will be held 9:00 AM at Resthaven Mortuary on Thursday, August 8, 2019, with funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM.
