Jo L. Meister (McFarland), age 78, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was born March 19, 1947, to Donald R. McFarland and S. Elaine (Hadley) McFarland in Girard, Kansas.
Jo moved to Wichita from Girard, Kansas at a very young age. Jo met the love of her life, Ed Meister, while attending Wichita South High School. They were married in 1966 and then moved to Lawrence, Kansas, so Ed could finish Pharmacy school at the University of Kansas. After Ed graduated in 1970, they moved back to Wichita and started their family.
Besides being a homemaker, she was active with the Wichita Kennel Club, American Kennel Club and the American Whippet Club. Jo enjoyed participating in and going to dog shows. She spent many years traveling to dog shows, specifically the Westminster Dog Show in New York City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Elaine McFarland and her sister, Lee Ann Putman.
Jo is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ed Meister; her daughters, Kendra (Brian) Martine and Kelsey Jones; her grandchildren, Grayson Jones and Cora Jones; her niece, Arika Perry; as well as her beloved whippets, Nadine and Alex.
A Celebration of Life Service for Jo will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
