John had a 40 year career in Aviation Engineering working for Boeing, Beechcraft, and Cessna. He had experience in many engineering disciplines. He retired from Cessna in 1998 as an Accident Aviation Investigator. He traveled the world to investigate Cessna Aircraft accidents where he utilized his mechanical engineering expertise and photography skills to build company reports for litigation.
He had many interests and activities in his lifetime which included traveling to the annual Oshkosh International Aircraft Show with friends and family, flying airplanes with family and friends, working in his shop building tools, working on cars with his grandson, breakfast with his buddies twice a week, swimming laps at the YMCA, and taking Margo (his companion) to the dog park for play.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julia Beauchamp and Tunstall (T.I.) Huy; his stepmother, Loria "Billie" McVay Huy; his loving wife, Bonnie Jean Huy; and his son, John Steven Huy.
John is survived by his daughter, Dana Dawn Huy; three grandsons: Chad Schroeder, Matthew Herndon and Cody Clark; brother, Jimmy Bruce Huy and sister, JoBeth Driver of Springfield, MO. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 21st, 1:00 p.m., at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209. Viewing visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st and end at 1:00 p.m. before the funeral service. A graveside service will immediately follow the funeral service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in The Garden of Bruce Newton with Air Force Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Salvation Army or Kansas Humane Society. John would like to be remembered as a loyal friend, dependable, always interested in a new adventure, and living life to its fullest.
